The Mindfulness Movement | An Interview With RHRN

The mindfulness movement has taken over, helping us all be more aware and present in our lives. We were thrilled to bring this movement into the Spring Box through Right Here Right Now, a social enterprise with a ton of heart (& mind!) that is helping each of us live in the moment and take the time to enjoy the world around us. We got to sit down with Russ, from Right Here Right Now (RHRN) to learn a little more about their initiatives.

What led you guys to create Right Here Right Now?

Right Here Right Now began on the bow of a sailboat in the Caribbean where our founder had "a moment" in which she realized how many missed moments she'd had in life because she was caught up spinning in the past or worrying about the future.  This served as a seismic shift in her life, she made a point going forward to spend as many moments in NOW as possible.  As a result, she found she had inherently more joy and far greater relationships in her life. Sharing the RHRN message became a passion that has evolved into a mission inspiring change in peoples lives one moment at a time.

That is pretty awesome! Tell us a little about your mission.

The RHRN vision is to inspire change one moment at a time. By sharing the Right Here Right Now message and symbol (which we call a "bump"), we remind you to stop, take a breath, and find something to be grateful for. Ten seconds changes your awareness, increases your gratitude and brings you back to the present moment. Taking just ten seconds makes such a difference, and doing it often makes it a habit.

Tell us what led you to create the products you have.

At RHRN we are very picky! We search for quality products that you touch throughout your day offering you a message and a bump. Not only do we want our products to be an experience, we make the packaging part of the experience as well, using recycled materials from one of our partner companies, EcoEnclose.

What causes are your products connected to?

At Right Here Right Now we believe in many things. Some of our favorites are kids, books, dogs, veterans, and people with special needs. Our current giveback programs are Hands Across the Sea and Service Dogs of America.  We look forward to expanding our giving reach as we grow.

Why is this important to you?

Hands Across the Sea touches the lives of thousands of Caribbean children by providing fun and exciting reading books into hundreds of island schools.  We have seen firsthand the differences this is making in these kids lives.

We love that Service Dogs of America uses rescue dogs in their awesome mission of providing 4 legged companions to many veterans, kids, and persons with special needs.

What made you want to be a social enterprise?

The significant shift begun that day on the bow of a boat, our founder felt the Right Here Right Now message was worth coming out of retirement to share.  As she continued to tell her story and others began creating change one moment at a time, she knew she had to reach out on a global scale making a difference for many.

What is the most meaningful part of your work?

The stories people share of their RHRN moments lifts us up and makes us smile. Everyone has their own interpretation and implementation, we love it all.

What is the first thing you do every morning to prepare for success?

We begin our day taking a breath, embracing our surroundings and finding gratitude, in other words we begin by being present.  By letting go of the past and not worrying about what’s to come we can show up for our day truly being Right Here Right Now.

What is the one thing you wish everyone knew about mindfulness?

That mindfulness means being Right Here Right Now.  It doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming, it’s as simple as taking a breath to bring yourself back to the moment.  Spending more time in the present moment enhances your life and your relationships.  Being present is the journey.

What has been the most rewarding part of your work?

Being able to reach out, touch lives and be in service to others.

We are excited to learn more and reap the benefits of being more mindful with Right Here Right Now. We've made it easier for you too, you'll find their signature 'bump' in this season's box
